This Week on SmackDown — Oklahoma City, OK (July 10, 2026)
The first SmackDown with CM Punk as Undisputed WWE Champion delivered the two biggest announcements of the SummerSlam build in one night. CM Punk opened the show, said he negotiated with WWE, NBCUniversal, and Nick Aldis to come to SmackDown, and promised to be a fighting champion. Cody Rhodes interrupted and reminded Punk of the conversation they had after WrestleMania — then asked for his title shot. Punk accepted immediately. Aldis made it official: CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. The match the entire card has been building toward is confirmed.
The second major announcement came at the close. Gunther demanded Aldis give him an Undisputed Championship match. Aldis instead announced CM Punk and Cody Rhodes vs Gunther and Sami Zayn at Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden on July 18. Gunther was furious — and attacked Aldis with repeated sleeper holds, choking him out as officials tried to separate them. Cody Rhodes ran out to make the save as SmackDown went off the air.
Finn Balor defeated Tama Tonga in their first match since the backstage attack — Balor hit the Coup de Grâce for the pin after taking out both Tama and Talla Tonga with a suicide senton. Jimmy Uso defeated Royce Keys after Solo Sikoa appeared at ringside and grabbed Jimmy, only for Jacob Fatu to arrive and make the save. Fatu continued beating Solo after the match and told him to get with the family on Raw Monday or next time he won’t stop. Jade Cargill defeated Alexa Bliss and attacked her post-match — Charlotte Flair’s name continues to circle the Women’s US Championship picture. Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes ended in a no contest when Baron Corbin returned out of nowhere and attacked both men, creating a new wrinkle in the US Championship picture heading into SummerSlam.
