Here is the full segment-by-segment breakdown of the WWE SmackDown results July 3 2026.

Opening: Sami Zayn’s First SmackDown as Undisputed WWE Champion

Sami Zayn opened these SmackDown results last night with a mixed reception from Atlantic City. Zayn addressed being booed for six months as a babyface — called the crowd hypocrites for wanting him as champion and then turning on him the moment he got there. He said he won the Undisputed WWE Championship the right way at Night of Champions 2026 and he won’t tell anyone to kiss his ass because he is, and always has been, a good guy.

Cody Rhodes came out. Zayn asked what he wanted to say. Cody congratulated him — shook his hand and turned to leave. Zayn stopped him: “I have what you want.” Jey Uso interrupted to deliver a warning shot. Acting GM Adam Pearce — filling in for Nick Aldis after the backstage confrontation with Gunther at Night of Champions — arrived and announced Cody vs Jey tonight. Winner faces Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Raw Monday in Chicago.

Zayn later argued with Pearce backstage to reverse the Raw title defence. Pearce refused. Zayn then found Johnny Gargano, told him he couldn’t have done Night of Champions without him, and handed Candice LeRae his phone to take a photo of the two of them.

Six-Woman Tag: Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab def. Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton & Chelsea Green

Result: Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab def. Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton & Chelsea Green — Jade pins Chelsea Green after Jaded

Cathy Kelley interviewed Charlotte Flair backstage before the match. Alexa Bliss walked in, teasing tension between herself and Charlotte. The match was Chelsea Green’s best showcase in months — she got the hot tag to a “We Want Chelsea” chant from Atlantic City and worked brilliantly before Jade caught her with Jaded for the pin. The Flair-Cargill SummerSlam programme keeps building. Charlotte returned at Night of Champions to hit Cargill with the Women’s US Title belt — tonight Cargill settled that score with a pin over Charlotte’s team.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Fenix def. El Hijo del Vikingo

Result: Rey Fenix (c) def. El Hijo del Vikingo via pinfall — retains

The best match on these WWE SmackDown results. “This is awesome” chants rang through Boardwalk Hall before the five-minute mark. Fenix and Vikingo delivered lucha-influenced sequences that no other members of the SmackDown roster can replicate. Fenix retained after the Mexican Muscle Buster. This was his third defence after beating Axiom and Nathan Frazer on SmackDown June 26 London.

Lainey Reid def. Brie Bella

Result: Lainey Reid def. Brie Bella via pinfall

Fatal Influence (Reid, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne) and Scream Mode (Paige, Brie Bella) brawled at ringside throughout. Reid pinned Brie while the distraction kept the referee occupied. Fatal Influence picks up a win to reset their ongoing feud with the Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Cody Rhodes and Finn Balor Backstage — Tongas Attack

Cody Rhodes found Finn Balor backstage while preparing for the main event. Balor told him: “You came to SmackDown to face him for the title — so go win it again.” Cody walked away. Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga immediately attacked Balor from behind, leaving him laid out. No explanation was given for the Tongas targeting Balor.

Carmelo Hayes Confronts Trick Williams

Carmelo Hayes confronted US Champion Trick Williams backstage and demanded a title shot. Williams offered a non-title match instead — set for SmackDown July 10 from Oklahoma City. Hayes made clear that wasn’t what he asked for.

Danhausen vs JD McDonagh at SNME MSG — July 18

Danhausen appeared backstage with Matt Cardona, Kit Wilson, and The Miz. Danhausen announced he will face JD McDonagh at Saturday Night’s Main Event from Madison Square Garden on July 18.

Blake Monroe Attacks Giulia and Kiana James

Giulia called out Blake Monroe backstage. Kiana James appeared, allowing Monroe to attack Giulia from behind. Monroe then also attacked Kiana. Monroe has now antagonised both women in the same segment — her own agenda is becoming clearer with every appearance on Friday Night SmackDown results.

Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu — Royce Keys Interrupts

Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu were interrupted backstage by Royce Keys. With Solo Sikoa having spiked Jimmy on Raw June 29 and Fatu promising to deal with Solo, the Bloodline subplot continues across both brands. Roman Reigns remains the anchor point for every thread in this story.

A replay of Gunther and Nick Aldis’ confrontation at Night of Champions also aired, keeping that rivalry visible while Aldis is off-screen.

Main Event: Cody Rhodes def. Jey Uso — #1 Contender’s Match

Result: Cody Rhodes def. Jey Uso via pinfall (Cross Rhodes) — Cody Rhodes is #1 contender

The main event and the biggest match on the WWE SmackDown results July 3 2026. Jey tweaked his ankle on an outside dive early and worked through a visible limp for the rest of the match. The pace stayed fast — both men worked finisher sequences and near-falls that had Boardwalk Hall genuinely split on who they wanted to win. Rhodes hit a Spear followed by Cross Rhodes — Jey kicked out. Jey came back with his own Spear — Rhodes kicked out. Cody connected with a second Cross Rhodes and Jey could not answer the three count.

Cody Rhodes is the number one contender to the Undisputed WWE Championship. Adam Pearce confirmed immediately: Cody Rhodes vs Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship takes place on Raw Monday in Chicago — not at SummerSlam. The biggest SmackDown results last night outcome sends the title picture straight to free television next week.
