Trick Williams (c) def. The Miz — US Champion Dominates Hometown Show

SmackDown opened with United States Champion Trick Williams receiving a hero’s welcome in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina. The Miz, accompanied by Kit Wilson, interrupted and challenged Williams for the US title. Williams opened with his signature launching clothesline, but Miz quickly took control and taunted Williams’ family and Lil Yachty at ringside throughout the match.

Wilson distracted Williams repeatedly from the outside, leading to a series of roll-up exchanges. Miz connected with the Skull-Crushing Finale — and Williams kicked out, one of the rare times anyone has survived Miz’s finisher in recent memory. Miz then went to the outside to grab a kendo stick, clearly willing to accept a disqualification, but Lil Yachty intercepted it. With Wilson neutralised and Miz distracted, Williams hit the Trick Shot for the pinfall victory. Williams celebrates in front of his hometown crowd as the US Championship reign continues to grow.

Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss def. Michin & B-Fab

Flair and Bliss got their retribution after last week’s post-match attack. Flair and Michin started with a feeling-out process punctuated by the Columbia crowd’s “woos.” Michin landed a hurricanrana and spinning wheel kick, but Flair responded with a series of chops and a Devil’s Roll. B-Fab tagged in and caught Bliss with a side slam variation, but Bliss fought back and the babyface team took control down the stretch. Flair and Bliss won by pinfall in a match that, while short, re-established them as a credible team heading into the Jade Cargill confrontation later in the night.

Paige & Brie Bella def. Giulia & Kiana James

The Women’s Tag Team Champions scored a non-title victory over the fracturing Giulia-James alliance. Giulia dominated Paige early with a snap suplex and sustained offence, but Paige fired back with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb in the corner. Brie got the hot tag and connected with a missile dropkick and a series of running knee strikes. Giulia and James nearly stole the match with a Codebreaker-Northern Lights Bomb combination, but Paige broke up the pin at the last moment. Brie then rolled up James for the pinfall victory. The tension between Giulia and James continued post-match — James blamed Giulia for the loss, and the partnership looks closer to collapsing than ever.

Carmelo Hayes def. Ricky Saints — Statement Win in SmackDown Results Today On Return

The standout match among the SmackDown results today May 15. Hayes and Saints delivered a hard-hitting, back-and-forth contest that earned “This is awesome” chants from the Columbia crowd. Saints opened aggressively with punches and an arm wringer, but Hayes responded with his signature front kick and sent Saints to the floor before connecting with a massive tope con giro to the outside.

Backstage after the match, Hayes cut a promo declaring he has been watching Trick Williams and Sami Zayn make a “mockery” of the United States Championship and is coming back for it. Saints confronted Hayes, and Hayes told him: “This place has a funny way of humbling people like us.” The US Championship picture now has a clear new contender.

Jade Cargill Addresses The WWE Universe — Flair And Bliss Confront Her

Cargill addressed the Columbia crowd for the first time since her return, explaining her attack on Rhea Ripley last week. Cargill declared she is The Storm and that Ripley only has the Women’s Championship because of her. Before Cargill could finish, Charlotte Flair interrupted and told her nobody wants to hear her talk. Alexa Bliss followed, completely roasting Cargill by saying her “background dancers” (Michin and B-Fab) are supposed to make her look good. The segment turned physical with Flair challenging Cargill directly — “let’s play.” The women’s championship picture on SmackDown is now a multi-layered war involving Ripley, Cargill, Flair, Bliss, and Fatal Influence.

Damian Priest def. Tama Tonga — R-Truth Recruitment Continues

Damian Priest defeated Tama Tonga in singles action after the originally planned tag match was scrapped due to R-Truth not being medically cleared. Priest absorbed early punishment from Tonga but mounted a comeback and secured the pinfall victory. Backstage after the match, R-Truth approached Royce Keys and pitched him on joining “Judgment Day 2000” — a new faction Truth is building. Keys said he’d think about it. Gunther appeared and complained that Rhodes had ruined the effort to set up his SmackDown deal. Gunther demanded Rhodes address him with respect and say “please.” Rhodes reluctantly conceded, telling Gunther “please — I’m going to kick your ass in Italy.”

Before Gunther could sign, Royce Keys interrupted and told Gunther that if he won’t sign the contract, Keys will. Keys marched to the ring, and Rhodes handed him the pen. Gunther slid into the ring just in time to stop Keys from signing. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis then appeared and booked Gunther vs Royce Keys in a #1 Contender’s Match later tonight — the winner faces Rhodes at Clash in Italy.

The segment was tightly executed and added a genuine sense of unpredictability to the Clash in Italy build. Keys inserting himself as a viable alternative challenger gave the contract signing a twist that nobody expected.

Backstage, R-Truth approached Keys and thanked him for helping against the MFTs. Truth pitched Keys on joining “Judgment Day 2000” — a new faction he’s building. Keys said he’d think about it. Damian Priest then questioned whether they can trust Keys, and Truth admitted Priest was right to ask.

Gunther def. Royce Keys — #1 Contender Confirmed For Clash In Italy

The main event saw Gunther defeat Royce Keys to officially earn the Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy on May 31. Keys brought genuine intensity and had the Columbia crowd believing an upset was possible, but Gunther’s experience and power proved decisive. The Ring General is now officially a SmackDown superstar and the confirmed #1 contender for Rhodes’ championship in Turin.

The contract signing earlier in the night, the Keys interruption, and Nick Aldis booking the impromptu #1 contender’s match gave the Clash in Italy build a sense of earned opportunity — Gunther didn’t just get handed the title shot, he had to fight for it.
