Per WWE’s official listing, the first hour on ESPN TV is expected to feature Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu (Tribal Combat) and Rhea Ripley vs Jade Cargill, positioning Cody Rhodes vs Gunther to close the show as the main event on ESPN Unlimited.
Cody Rhodes (c) vs Gunther — Undisputed WWE Championship
The match that has been building since Gunther attacked Rhodes on SmackDown May 1 in his first appearance on the blue brand. Gunther — the self-proclaimed “Career Killer” who has retired John Cena, Goldberg, and AJ Styles — transferred from Raw to SmackDown specifically to pursue the Undisputed WWE Championship. Paul Heyman brokered the contract on the go-home SmackDown May 8, revealing the match would take place in Italy rather than at Backlash.
Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since March 2026, surviving Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 and defeating Ricky Saints and Sami Zayn on SmackDown. Gunther earned the #1 contender spot by defeating Royce Keys on SmackDown May 15. On SmackDown May 22, Rhodes defeated Zayn in the main event while Gunther watched from backstage — expressionless, arms folded, studying every move.
This is the biggest championship match in the “Clash” series since Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle 2022. For the full feud breakdown, see our dedicated Cody Rhodes vs Gunther Clash in Italy guide.

Roman Reigns (c) vs Jacob Fatu — World Heavyweight Championship (Tribal Combat)
The Bloodline family war reaches its ultimate climax in Turin. Reigns and Fatu fought for 18 minutes at Backlash in one of the best matches of 2026, with Reigns retaining via two consecutive Spears that left Fatu foaming from the mouth. But Fatu refused to acknowledge Reigns afterward — and then attacked Reigns and WWE officials post-match, destroying everything in his path.
The Tribal Combat stipulation was announced on Raw May 18 — a no-disqualification match type rooted in the Samoan warrior tradition where the only way to win is to make your opponent submit or be physically unable to continue. The contract was officially signed on the go-home Raw from Columbus on May 25, where Reigns and Fatu exchanged an intense war of words that left no doubt about the personal stakes.
Fatu’s promo on the go-home SmackDown May 8 — “I’ll burn the whole family tree down” — and Jimmy Uso’s reference to Fatu’s real-life prison past have elevated this beyond a championship match into something deeply personal. The Usos are caught in the middle, with Jimmy partly rooting for Fatu and Jey warning that Reigns will break him.

Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi — WrestleMania 42 Rematch
The Beast is back. After appearing to retire at WrestleMania 42 — removing his boots and gloves in the ring after losing to Oba Femi — Brock Lesnar made a shocking return on Raw May 18 in Greensboro, attacking Femi mid-entrance with a series of F5s. Paul Heyman then provided Adam Pearce with a contract, and the rematch was made official for Clash in Italy.
On the go-home Raw from Columbus, Lesnar sent a pre-recorded message to Femi: “I am going to rule over Oba Femi.” Femi responded by confronting Paul Heyman with a signed contract and a chilling warning: “This time I’m fighting to kill The Beast.”
At WrestleMania, Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in just four minutes and 42 seconds, establishing himself as a legitimate main event star. The Clash in Italy rematch — the Oba Femi vs Brock Lesnar rematch that fans have demanded — gives Lesnar a chance at redemption and Femi the chance to prove WrestleMania was no fluke on an even bigger stage.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs Jade Cargill — WWE Women’s Championship
Ripley won the Women’s Championship from Cargill at WrestleMania 42 Night 2 in a match widely considered the best women’s match of the entire weekend. Cargill returned on SmackDown after a brief absence and immediately targeted Ripley — attacking her during a six-woman tag match and aligning with Michin and B-Fab as her support system.
At the SNME on May 23, Cargill pinned Ripley clean in a six-woman tag match (Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab defeated Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss), proving she can beat the champion and adding genuine uncertainty to the Clash in Italy title bout. On SmackDown May 22, Ripley had officially accepted Cargill’s challenge. The go-home SmackDown from Barcelona saw Cargill make a violent final statement by Jadeding Alexa Bliss onto a steel chair — entering Turin with maximum momentum against Ripley.
This match will air during the first hour on ESPN TV, giving it maximum exposure in the US market.

Becky Lynch (c) vs Sol Ruca — Women’s Intercontinental Championship
Lynch and Ruca’s rivalry began when Lynch crashed Ruca’s Raw debut contract signing on Raw May 4, and escalated through a war of words on social media. Lynch initially refused to put the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line, insisting Ruca hadn’t earned a title shot. After a non-title match at SNME ended in disqualification — Lynch attacked Ruca post-match, drawing the ire of SmackDown GM Nick Aldis — the bout was elevated to a full championship match for Clash in Italy.
On the go-home Raw, Lynch declared: “I will hold this title FOREVER,” making it clear she views Ruca as no threat. However, Ruca’s athleticism and NXT pedigree suggest an upset is possible.
Ruca has been searching for her breakthrough main roster victory since being called up after WrestleMania. Winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in her first month on the main roster — at a premium live event in Italy — would be one of the fastest rises from NXT call-up to champion in WWE history.
Logan Paul Injury: How It Affects The Clash In Italy Card
Logan Paul suffered a torn tricep during the World Tag Team Championship defense at SNME on May 23 and is out for “a number of months.” WWE announced on Raw May 25 that Bron Breakker will replace Logan Paul as Austin Theory’s tag partner and co-World Tag Team Champion, with Paul Heyman citing a clause that The Vision’s tag title contract covers the entire faction.
While the Logan Paul injury doesn’t directly remove a match from the Clash in Italy card — the tag titles were not scheduled for Turin — it does shift the post-PLE landscape. Theory attacked Joe Hendry on Raw in retaliation, and a feud between The Vision (Theory & Breakker) and a combination of Joe Hendry, Seth Rollins, and the Street Profits appears to be building for the European tour.
Expected Additions To The Clash In Italy Card
The confirmed card currently features five matches. Based on SNME results and the go-home Raw, additional matches could be added on the SmackDown from Barcelona on May 29:
Intercontinental Championship — Penta retained over both Ethan Page (SNME) and Je’Von Evans (Raw May 25). Rey Mysterio defeated Rusev on Raw to become the new #1 contender, with Dragon Lee making the save post-match. While a Penta vs Rey Mysterio IC title match is now set up, it appears unlikely to be placed at Clash in Italy — more likely for Night of Champions or the European tour house shows.
United States Championship — Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes was not on the SNME card and has not been announced for Turin. Their match could appear on the SmackDown from Barcelona.
King and Queen of the Ring — WWE announced on Raw May 25 that the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will return, starting next week. While tournament matches won’t be at Clash in Italy, the announcement signals the next major programming cycle after Turin.
The final SmackDown before Turin is the Clash in Italy go-home show from Barcelona on May 29, where the Rhodes-Gunther and Ripley-Cargill feuds will have their last chapter before Sunday.

Clash In Italy 2026: Why This Card Is Historic
Clash in Italy is WWE’s first-ever premium live event in Italy and the fourth event in the “Clash” series following Clash at the Castle 2022 (Cardiff), Clash at the Castle 2024 (Glasgow), and Clash in Paris 2025. The Clash in Italy 2026 card is arguably the strongest in the series — two world championship matches, a WrestleMania rematch featuring a returned legend, and two women’s championship bouts make it a five-match main event level card.
The event forms part of WWE’s European Summer Tour 2026, which includes SmackDown from Barcelona (May 29), Raw from Turin (June 1), and shows across France, Portugal, Spain, and Italy over the following weeks, culminating in Raw from Paris (June 8) and London (June 22). The next major PLE after Clash in Italy is Night of Champions 2026 on June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, followed by SummerSlam 2026 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on August 1–2.
Clash in Italy is now in the books. For every winner and highlight, see the Clash in Italy results 2026, and for the fallout show from the same arena, see Monday Night Raw June 1 2026 from Turin. The night after Turin’s PLE, Raw June 1 from the same Inalpi Arena saw Fatu acknowledge Reigns, the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments begin, and Night of Champions announced for June 27 in Riyadh.
