Cody Rhodes (c) vs Gunther — Undisputed WWE Championship

The match that has been building since Gunther attacked Rhodes on SmackDown May 1 in his first appearance on the blue brand. Gunther — the self-proclaimed “Career Killer” who has retired John Cena, Goldberg, and AJ Styles — transferred from Raw to SmackDown specifically to pursue the Undisputed WWE Championship. Paul Heyman brokered the contract on the go-home SmackDown May 8, revealing the match would take place in Italy rather than at Backlash.

Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since March 2026, surviving Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 and defeating Ricky Saints and Sami Zayn on SmackDown. Gunther earned the #1 contender spot by defeating Royce Keys on SmackDown May 15. On SmackDown May 22, Rhodes defeated Zayn in the main event while Gunther watched from backstage — expressionless, arms folded, studying every move.

This is the biggest championship match in the “Clash” series since Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle 2022. For the full feud breakdown, see our dedicated Cody Rhodes vs Gunther Clash in Italy guide.

Roman Reigns (c) vs Jacob Fatu — World Heavyweight Championship (Tribal Combat)

The Bloodline family war reaches its ultimate climax in Turin. Reigns and Fatu fought for 18 minutes at Backlash in one of the best matches of 2026, with Reigns retaining via two consecutive Spears that left Fatu foaming from the mouth. But Fatu refused to acknowledge Reigns afterward — and then attacked Reigns and WWE officials post-match, destroying everything in his path.

The Tribal Combat stipulation was announced on Raw May 18 — a new match type rooted in the Samoan warrior tradition. The exact rules have not been fully detailed, but the name and the Bloodline context suggest a no-disqualification, no-countout, anything-goes environment where the only way to win is to make your opponent submit or be physically unable to continue.

Fatu’s promo on the go-home SmackDown May 8 — “I’ll burn the whole family tree down” — and Jimmy Uso’s reference to Fatu’s real-life prison past have elevated this beyond a championship match into something deeply personal. The Usos are caught in the middle, with Jimmy partly rooting for Fatu and Jey warning that Reigns will break him.

Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi — WrestleMania 42 Rematch

The Beast is back. After appearing to retire at WrestleMania 42 — removing his boots and gloves in the ring after losing to Oba Femi — Brock Lesnar made a shocking return on Raw May 18 in Greensboro, attacking Femi mid-entrance with a series of F5s. Paul Heyman then provided Adam Pearce with a contract, and the rematch was made official for Clash in Italy.

Lesnar’s return sent shockwaves through the wrestling world. His WrestleMania farewell had been universally accepted as genuine — Triple H’s post-show comments, Heyman’s emotional embrace, the boots-in-the-ring gesture all pointed to retirement. Instead, Lesnar used the assumption of retirement to blindside the man who beat him.

At WrestleMania, Femi defeated Lesnar in just four minutes and 42 seconds, establishing himself as a legitimate main event star. The Clash in Italy rematch gives Lesnar a chance at redemption — and Femi the chance to prove WrestleMania was no fluke on an even bigger stage.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs Jade Cargill — WWE Women’s Championship

Ripley won the Women’s Championship from Cargill at WrestleMania 42 Night 2 in a match widely considered the best women’s match of the entire weekend. Cargill returned on SmackDown after a brief absence and immediately targeted Ripley — attacking her during a six-woman tag match and aligning with Michin and B-Fab as her support system.

On SmackDown May 22, Ripley officially accepted Cargill’s challenge for Clash in Italy. The rematch gives Cargill her first one-on-one championship opportunity since losing the title, and Ripley the chance to prove her WrestleMania victory was definitive.

Becky Lynch (c) vs Sol Ruca — Women’s Intercontinental Championship

The newest addition to the Clash in Italy card. Lynch and Ruca’s rivalry began when Lynch crashed Ruca’s Raw debut contract signing on Raw May 4, and escalated through a war of words on social media. Lynch initially refused to put the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line, insisting Ruca hadn’t earned a title shot. After a non-title match at SNME, the bout has been elevated to a full championship match for Clash in Italy.

Ruca has been searching for her breakthrough main roster victory since being called up after WrestleMania. Winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in her first month on the main roster — at a premium live event in Italy — would be one of the fastest rises from NXT call-up to champion in WWE history.

Expected Additions To The Clash In Italy Card

The confirmed card currently features five matches. Based on SNME results and the SmackDown from Barcelona on May 29, additional matches are possible:

Intercontinental Championship — Penta retained over Ethan Page at SNME in a thriller. Penta could defend in Turin against a new challenger emerging on the European tour, or Page could earn a rematch.

United States Championship — Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes was not on the SNME card. Their match could be placed at Clash in Italy or on the go-home SmackDown from Barcelona.

World Tag Team Championship — The Vision retained over The Street Profits at SNME after Logan Paul used brass knuckles and Bron Breakker speared both Profits post-match. A rematch or new challengers in Turin are possible.

Women’s Tag Team Championship — Scream Mode (Paige & Brie Bella) retained over the Irresistible Forces at SNME. Fatal Influence remain the most likely next challengers and could get their title shot at Clash in Italy.

Clash In Italy 2026: Why This Card Is Historic

Clash in Italy is WWE’s first-ever premium live event in Italy and the fourth event in the “Clash” series following Clash at the Castle 2022 (Cardiff), Clash at the Castle 2024 (Glasgow), and Clash in Paris 2025. The card is arguably the strongest “Clash” card to date — two world championship matches, a WrestleMania rematch featuring a returned legend, and a Women’s Championship bout make it a four-match main event level card.

The event forms part of WWE’s European Summer Tour 2026, which includes SmackDown from Barcelona (May 29), Raw from Turin (June 1), and shows across France, Portugal, Spain, and Italy over the following weeks, culminating in Raw from Paris (June 8) and London (June 22).
