Seth Rollins Challenges Bron Breakker To Backlash — Match Confirmed

The show opened with a pre-taped segment showing Roman Reigns seated with The Usos, discussing Jacob Fatu’s Backlash challenge. Reigns said he would address Fatu later in the night. In the arena, Seth Rollins wasted no time calling out Bron Breakker, accusing him of costing him his WrestleMania match against Gunther and taking everything from him. Breakker appeared with Paul Heyman and fired back, saying Rollins is no longer at the top and that he only joined The Vision because he needed access to Heyman. Rollins challenged Breakker to settle it at Backlash, calling him “Baby Steiner” and adding that Breakker isn’t even the number two Steiner in his family. Breakker accepted. Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker is confirmed for WWE Backlash on May 9.

Penta def. Rusev — Non-Title Match; Ethan Page Watches From Ringside

Intercontinental Champion Penta defeated Rusev in a hard-hitting non-title match. Ethan Page positioned himself at ringside to scout the champion but did not interfere during the match. Rusev connected with the Machka Kick but could not put Penta away, and the champion caught him with a roll-up for the pinfall. After the match, Rusev attacked Penta, and Page rolled up his sleeves to join — initially Rusev waved him off, but when Penta fought back, Page jumped in. Je’Von Evans made the save, hitting Rusev with the OG Cutter to even the odds. The Intercontinental Championship picture is building toward a tag match or fatal four-way at Backlash involving Penta, Rusev, Ethan Page, and Evans.

Becky Lynch (c) def. IYO SKY — Women’s Intercontinental Championship Retained; Asuka Challenges SKY To Backlash

The match of the night. Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch issued an open challenge, and IYO SKY answered. Lynch mocked SKY, calling her the “Marty Jannetty” of her tag team with Rhea Ripley. SKY hit back — literally — and the match was made official by Adam Pearce. What followed was a multi-segment contest that multiple outlets have already called the best women’s match on Raw in months. SKY reversed the Manhandle Slam and dropped Lynch with a powerbomb on the floor outside, then nailed an Asai Moonsault, losing a shoe in the process. As SKY was climbing back into the ring, Asuka appeared and attacked her behind the referee’s back. Lynch capitalised with the Manhandle Slam to retain.

After the match, Asuka cut a promo challenging SKY to a showdown at Backlash. The crowd chanted “We Want Kairi!” — a painful reminder that Kairi Sane was released from WWE just days ago, ending any chance of the Kabuki Warriors storyline reaching its conclusion. Asuka vs IYO SKY is confirmed for WWE Backlash on May 9.

Joe Hendry In Concert — The Vision Interrupts

Joe Hendry officially debuted on Raw with his signature in-ring concert segment. Hendry declared that he has officially joined the Raw roster, then launched into a song calling for Adam Pearce to fire Logan Paul. Paul took exception and interrupted alongside Austin Theory, cutting a ranting promo. Hendry’s concert established him as one of Raw’s most over babyfaces in his very first appearance — part of the wave of NXT call ups in 2026 that has reshaped the main roster. Backstage later, Hendry thanked The Street Profits when Seth Rollins approached looking to talk about last week. Ford and Dawkins made it clear their focus is on the Tag Team Championships, not Rollins’ personal war with Breakker.

Rey Mysterio def. El Grande Americano — Los Americanos Brawl Post-Match

Rey Mysterio defeated El Grande Americano in a lucha showcase building toward the Mask vs Mask match scheduled for May 30 at AAA’s Noche de Los Grandes. Before the match, the “Original” El Grande Americano asked Mysterio if he needed someone watching his back. Mysterio declined, saying he just wants both men to respect lucha libre. Los Americanos confronted Mysterio backstage in a tense exchange. The match itself was clean, with Mysterio winning after the Original Americano stopped his counterpart from using a metal plate, leading to a post-match brawl between the two luchadors.

Oba Femi def. Grayson Waller — Weekly Open Challenge Announced

Oba Femi continued his dominant run by squashing Grayson Waller in singles competition. After the match, Femi made a major announcement — the “Oba Femi Open Challenge” will commence every week on Raw. Any superstar can step up, and Femi will face them. This is the perfect formula to keep Femi prominent and over following his WrestleMania 42 victory over Brock Lesnar — let him destroy someone new each week while building toward a bigger feud.

LA Knight Confronts The Usos Backstage

In a backstage segment, LA Knight interrupted an interview with Jimmy and Jey Uso. Knight questioned whether The Usos are sitting at Roman Reigns’ table again and reminded Jey of everything he achieved on his own. Knight warned that power corrupts, and when it does, “it becomes my business — yeah!” Jimmy insisted it was a family matter, but Knight’s message was clear: he is watching the Bloodline situation closely and positioning himself as a potential challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez def. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria — Judgment Day Dominance Continues

Hometown hero Roxanne Perez returned to Laredo to a massive ovation, teaming with Raquel Rodriguez to face Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan watched from ringside and repeatedly distracted Bayley, which proved decisive — Bayley broke off to attack Morgan, allowing Perez to hit Pop Rox on Bayley for the pinfall. Backstage before the match, Morgan and Perez had attacked Stephanie Vaquer, with Rodriguez joining in to leave Vaquer laid out. The Judgment Day continues to dominate the Raw women’s division through numbers.

Roman Reigns Accepts Jacob Fatu’s Backlash Challenge — Fatu Attacks Reigns

The closing segment of the WWE Raw results delivered the most anticipated moment of the night. World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns appeared to address Jacob Fatu’s Backlash challenge. Reigns declared that WWE created the World Heavyweight Championship to take his shine, but it didn’t work because it’s the man who makes the title — and he made it relevant by putting it in the WrestleMania main event.

Jacob Fatu interrupted, repeating that he needs the championship. In an emotional promo, Fatu revealed he spent 12 years suffering and going broke while trying to make it to WWE. No one in the family — not Roman, not Jey, not Jimmy — reached out to help him. Only Solo Sikoa gave him a chance. Reigns fired back that Sikoa “couldn’t get a cup of coffee delivered” and that the Original Tribal Chief runs WWE.

Fatu then attacked Reigns, and the two brawled until The Usos separated them. Reigns, fired up by the assault, accepted the challenge. Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu for the World Heavyweight Championship is confirmed for WWE Backlash on May 9 in Tampa.
