Saturday Night’s Main Event Results: Full Match-By-Match Breakdown

Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab def. Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss — Cargill Pins Ripley Clean

The opening match set the tone for the entire night. Cargill’s trio — wearing gear in tribute to the late Michael Jackson — defeated Ripley’s alliance in 16:45 of what Wrestleview called “a very good opening match, reminding me of those big multi-feud tag team matches they’d have in years past.”

Ripley started against Cargill, but The Storm immediately backed up and tagged B-Fab to boos from the crowd. Ripley dominated early, catching B-Fab with a stiff clothesline before tagging Alexa Bliss. The babyface team built momentum through the opening minutes, with Flair wearing special ring gear covered in friendship bracelets given by fans.

The match broke down in the closing minutes with all six women getting involved. The finish was emphatic — Cargill hit Ripley with a pump kick followed by the Jaded, then pinned the WWE Women’s Champion clean. This is the biggest statement Cargill could have made heading into their Clash in Italy championship match on May 31. Ripley has now been pinned cleanly by Cargill one week before defending the title in Turin — the champion enters the biggest match of the Clash series with serious question marks over her form.

Sol Ruca def. Becky Lynch via Disqualification — Non-Title Match; Lynch vs Ruca Title Match Set For Clash In Italy

Lynch and Ruca faced off in a non-title match that lasted just three minutes but delivered major storyline consequences. Lynch threw the Women’s Intercontinental Championship into Ruca’s face before the bell, but Ruca fired back immediately with a faceplant.

Ruca dominated the early going with impressive athleticism — a springboard corkscrew crossbody, a springboard 450 into a clothesline, and a springboard moonsault to the floor that wiped out the champion. She looked every bit the threat that her NXT reputation suggested.

The finish came when Ruca attempted a Sol Snatcher, but Lynch deliberately pulled referee Jessika Carr into the path of the move, causing Ruca to accidentally hit the official. The referee recovered and awarded Ruca the win by disqualification, recognising Lynch’s interference.

What followed was far worse than the match itself. Lynch attacked Ruca with the title belt and hit three consecutive Manhandle Slams, threatening any officials who tried to intervene. The post-match beatdown drew massive boos from the Fort Wayne crowd.

Backstage, Lynch confronted SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who informed her that he had just spoken with Adam Pearce — Becky Lynch will now defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca at Clash in Italy on May 31. Lynch’s attempt to duck the challenge has only made things worse for herself.

Penta (c) def. Ethan Page to Retain the Intercontinental Championship — Springboard Mexican Destroyer

The marquee title match of SNME XLIV delivered. Penta retained the Intercontinental Championship against Ethan Page in a 14-minute contest that built steadily to a dramatic finish, complete with classic ring introductions from Lillian Garcia using the legendary hanging microphone.

Michael Cole noted that in the 41-year history of Saturday Night’s Main Event, there has been only one title change across 17 championship matches — when Shawn Michaels defeated The British Bulldog in 1992. That streak continues.

Intercontinental championship Penta beats Ethan Page Saturday Night's main event results may 23 2026

Page controlled the early portion, sending Penta crashing onto the commentary table with a back body drop and working the champion over with methodical strikes and rest holds. Page sent Penta face-first into the ring post twice, establishing a deliberate pace designed to wear down the high-flyer.

Penta’s comeback began with a sling blade and a step-up enzuigiri that sent Page to the outside, followed by a tope con hilo. Back inside, Penta hit a head-scissor takeover off the top rope and a springboard DDT for a near fall.

The closing stretch was outstanding. Penta and Page traded superkicks until both men collapsed, then Page landed a Confidence Breaker for a near fall. Penta fired back with a Penta Driver, but Page kicked out. Page pulled Penta’s mask to set up an avalanche powerslam off the middle turnbuckle — still only a two-count.

Page then snapped, removing a turnbuckle pad while the referee’s back was turned, then pulling off a second while the ref fixed the first. Penta was driven into the exposed turnbuckle and kicked out. Page then charged Penta but ran shoulder-first into the exposed turnbuckle himself, and Penta capitalised with a springboard Mexican Destroyer for the pinfall victory.

The 23-and-a-half-year no-title-change streak for Saturday Night’s Main Event continues. Page came out of the match with serious credibility despite the loss — this is a rivalry that isn’t over.

Scream Mode (Paige & Brie Bella) (c) def. Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) — Women’s Tag Team Championship Retained

Scream Mode’s unlikely title reign continues. Paige and Brie Bella successfully defended the Women’s Tag Team Championship against former champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend, marking their third successful defence since winning the titles at WrestleMania 42.

The champions used their agility advantage to offset the size of the Irresistible Forces, with Legend dominating the early portions after Jax distracted Paige during a rope run. Bella and Paige combined for a double kick on Legend to shift the momentum, and the champions worked together effectively despite the power disadvantage.

This is the biggest SNME result for Scream Mode — competing on the event for the first time ever and retaining against the team they dethroned at WrestleMania. The question now is how long the nostalgia-driven reign continues, especially with Nikki Bella’s return from injury looming on the horizon.

The Vision (Logan Paul & Austin Theory) (c) def. The Street Profits — World Tag Team Championship Retained

The Vision retained the World Tag Team Championship in the main event of SNME XLIV, keeping the titles they won from The Usos back in March.

Montez Ford nearly stole the match in the opening seconds with a quick roll-up on Theory as the crowd chanted “Logan sucks!” Ford got the better of Paul when the social media star tagged in, and the Profits delivered double-team offence early. The Vision eventually regained the advantage and worked to isolate the challengers.

Logan Paul and Austin Theory held on to their titles via pinfall, extending the no-title-change theme of the entire SNME card. With the Street Profits falling short, the question now turns to whether Montez Ford reconsiders his stance on Seth Rollins — who has been pushing to align with the Profits to take down The Vision faction. The tension between Ford, Dawkins, and Rollins adds a layer of intrigue heading into the European Summer Tour and Clash in Italy.

What SNME Results Mean For Clash In Italy

Every SNME result directly impacts the Clash in Italy card on May 31 in Turin:

Six-woman tag result: Cargill pinning Ripley clean is the strongest possible momentum heading into their Women’s Championship match. Ripley enters Clash in Italy having been beaten one-on-one by her challenger — an unusual dynamic for a defending champion.

Lynch vs Ruca now official for Clash in Italy: Lynch’s plan to avoid putting the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line backfired spectacularly. Her deliberate DQ and post-match assault on Ruca led directly to Nick Aldis making the title match official for Turin. Ruca heads to Italy with a moral victory and the crowd firmly behind her; Lynch heads there having shown she’ll do anything to avoid a fair fight.

Penta retains — the IC title goes to Europe: Penta’s successful defence means the Intercontinental Championship stays with the fighting champion heading into the European Summer Tour. Ethan Page made a strong case for a rematch and this could easily become a triple threat or fatal four-way at Clash in Italy if Rusev or Je’Von Evans factor in.

Scream Mode retain the Women’s Tag titles: Paige and Brie Bella head to the European Summer Tour as champions, their third successful defence since WrestleMania 42. The Irresistible Forces appear to have exhausted their rematch options, which opens the door for new challengers — potentially involving Nikki Bella’s eventual return.

The Vision retain the World Tag Team titles: Logan Paul and Austin Theory survive the Street Profits’ challenge, but the faction war with Seth Rollins is far from over. The Profits’ loss could push Montez Ford to finally accept Rollins’ help — setting up a potential multi-man tag title match or faction warfare at Clash in Italy or on the European Summer Tour.

All champions retain heading into next week’s European Summer Tour, beginning with SmackDown from Barcelona on May 29, and Clash in Italy in Turin on May 31.
