Raw After WrestleMania 42: Full Segment-By-Segment Breakdown

Oba Femi Opens Raw: “The Ruler Has Arrived”

The show opened with Oba Femi, fresh off his star-making victory over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, strutting to the ring to an enormous ovation. The crowd chanted his name before he could even speak. Femi raised the microphone, declared “The Ruler has arrived,” dropped the mic, and posed as his music played. Four words. That was all he needed. The segment was a perfect follow-up to WrestleMania — letting the crowd’s reaction do the talking and establishing Femi as a legitimate main roster star without overcomplicating his introduction.

Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY def. The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane)

The first match of the night was a tag team contest between the newly crowned WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY against the Kabuki Warriors. A pre-match video package saw Asuka berate SKY for choosing Ripley over her “real family,” setting up the Asuka-SKY rivalry that is expected to culminate at Backlash.

The match itself was one of the strongest tag team matches of the entire WrestleMania weekend. Kairi Sane hit an InSane Elbow on a standing Ripley at ringside, and the Kabuki Warriors delivered a series of combination attacks that had Ripley in real danger. SKY eventually got the hot tag and hit back-to-back Bullet Train attacks on both opponents. The finish saw Ripley connect with a Riptide on Sane, followed immediately by SKY’s Over the Moonsault for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Ripley and SKY shared a moment backstage as Ripley heads to SmackDown. Ripley then crossed paths with Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a brief but loaded exchange, with Morgan telling Ripley she won’t see her around, and Ripley responding, “I hope so.”

CM Punk Addresses His WrestleMania Loss — Cody Rhodes Appears, Future Title Match Teased

CM Punk walked to the stage without his entrance music, knelt down for an “It’s Clobberin’ Time” chant, and then made his full entrance to a deeply mixed reaction from the T-Mobile Arena crowd.

In what became one of the most emotionally raw promos of 2026, Punk opened up about the losses he has endured in recent months — the death of his MMA trainer Duke Rufus, the passing of his dog Larry, and the loss of WWE backstage crew members including Kerwin Silfies. Punk said those losses sting more than losing the World Heavyweight Championship. He credited the championship with giving him an anchor and a reason not to slow down during those difficult months, and he thanked the crowd for helping him process his grief.

Punk then pivoted to his future. He reminded the audience that he was never supposed to be champion — he survived Gunther and was cashed in on by Seth Rollins, holding the title for just three minutes before winning it back. He said he stays ready because “you never know when a championship opportunity will fall out of the sky.”

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes then appeared, sporting a gruesome black eye from Randy Orton’s post-match attack at WrestleMania. Rhodes told Punk he expected a “freak-out” or a “crash out,” not the measured response Punk delivered. The two shared a respectful exchange, with Punk telling Rhodes that he is free as a bird now and that Rhodes needs to keep being the champion. Punk repeated his line about opportunities falling from the sky while pointedly looking at Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship.

Rhodes closed the segment with four words: “Hey Punk — just say when.” The crowd buzzed as Punk smirked and walked away. A Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk match — possibly at SummerSlam — appears to be in the pipeline.

Ethan Page def. Je’Von Evans — Rusev Attacks Evans, Penta Makes The Save

In his first match as a member of the Raw roster, Ethan Page defeated Je’Von Evans following a competitive contest. Page was introduced backstage earlier in the show alongside Intercontinental Champion Penta and Evans, immediately declaring his intention to win the IC title and mocking Evans for losing at WrestleMania.

The match featured Evans’ signature high-flying offence, including a massive dive over the top rope. The finish came after Rusev interfered at ringside, distracting Evans and allowing Page to hit Twisted Grin for the pinfall. After the match, Rusev attacked Evans and applied the Accolade. Penta ran down for the save but was cut off by Page, and Rusev locked Penta in the Accolade as well before holding up the Intercontinental Championship — a clear statement of intent.

The Intercontinental Championship picture on Raw is now a three-way dynamic: Penta as champion, Rusev as the powerhouse challenger, and Ethan Page as the cunning newcomer positioning himself for a shot.

Liv Morgan def. Sol Ruca — Sol Ruca’s Main Roster Debut, Zaria Interference

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan celebrated her WrestleMania victory over Stephanie Vaquer alongside the Judgment Day, thanking her stablemates and her opponent. Sol Ruca interrupted, making her surprise Raw debut. Ruca praised Morgan and referenced their Royal Rumble encounter, where they were the final two competitors. Morgan dismissed Ruca and told her to leave if she wanted to make it to next year’s WrestleMania. Ruca responded: “I didn’t come out to pick a fight, but I’m not going to back down from one either.”

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce made the non-title match official on the spot. The match that followed was far more competitive than anyone expected. Ruca showcased her high-flying abilities with a standing moonsault, a German suplex, and her Sol Snatcher finisher — which connected, but Morgan rolled out of the ring before Ruca could make the cover. Ruca also took out Judgment Day members Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez with a dive at ringside.

The finish came via interference from Zaria, who attacked Ruca at ringside while the referee was distracted. Although Ruca beat the count back into the ring, she walked straight into Morgan’s ObLIVion for the loss. After the match, Stephanie Vaquer appeared to confront Morgan, hinting at a continued feud over the Women’s World Championship.

Sol Ruca’s debut was a statement. She held her own against the champion, earned “This is awesome” chants, and immediately established herself as a future contender. The Ruca-Zaria rivalry from NXT has now followed both women to the main roster.

The Vision, Bron Breakker, Seth Rollins And The Street Profits — Chaos Erupts

Paul Heyman appeared with The Vision (Logan Paul and Austin Theory) and demanded that WWE’s production team move Brock Lesnar from the “Now” section of the Raw intro to the “Forever” section — a nod to Lesnar’s apparent retirement at WrestleMania. Logan Paul attempted to cut a promo but was drowned out by boos.

Bron Breakker then appeared and called out Seth Rollins, gloating about costing him his WrestleMania match against Gunther. Rollins attacked Breakker with a steel chair, but the numbers game took over as The Vision jumped Rollins. That is when The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) made their return, storming the ring to even the odds. A massive brawl erupted, with the Profits targeting Paul and Theory. Rollins hit Breakker with a superkick, but Breakker responded with a devastating spear and warned Rollins that he would turn him into “a shell of what he used to be.”

The Street Profits’ return adds another tag team to Raw’s growing faction warfare, and the Breakker-Rollins feud now has the intensity to be a marquee match at Backlash.

Finn Balor def. JD McDonagh

Finn Balor continued his war with the Judgment Day, defeating former ally JD McDonagh in a physical contest. The match was made a standard singles bout, a step down from WrestleMania’s Street Fight stipulation against Dominik Mysterio. Balor won with the Coup de Grâce. Post-match, Dominik tried to attack Balor but was fought off, with McDonagh pulling Mysterio to safety. The Judgment Day’s internal fracture continues.

Gunther And LA Knight Both Target The World Heavyweight Championship

In separate backstage interviews, both Gunther and LA Knight declared their intentions to pursue the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther referenced his WrestleMania win over Seth Rollins and said people should “get comfortable seeing the World Heavyweight Championship around his waist very soon.” LA Knight congratulated Gunther but pointed out that one of the WrestleMania winners needed a 3-on-1 advantage to get his victory — a jab at Gunther’s reliance on Breakker’s interference. Both men are positioning themselves as future challengers for Roman Reigns.

Jacob Fatu Challenges Roman Reigns For The World Heavyweight Championship At Backlash

The show closed with the biggest segment of the night. New World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns appeared alongside Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso, reuniting The Bloodline. Reigns delivered an emotional address, saying he missed having their full trust, love, respect, and admiration. He told The Usos he does not want them to serve him, but to stand with him. As they raised their “ones” to the sky, Jacob Fatu interrupted.

Fatu told Reigns he was not here to be the Tribal Chief, but he needs everything the Tribal Chief has — including the World Heavyweight Championship. Fatu challenged Reigns to a title match at WWE Backlash on May 9. Reigns questioned whether Fatu was ready for the pressure that comes with being champion and told Fatu he would give his answer next week. The show ended with Reigns and The Usos leaving, while Fatu stood alone in the ring.

The first major World Heavyweight Championship feud of the post-WrestleMania era is set: Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu, with Backlash as the destination.
