IPL 2026 opening match: RCB vs SRH
The IPL 2026 opening match will feature Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The game will be played on March 28 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, marking the start of the new season.
As defending champions, RCB will play the first match of IPL 2026, continuing the tradition where the previous season’s winners often appear in the opening fixture. This will be the seventh time RCB play the opening match of an IPL season, but the first time they do so as defending champions.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, this will be only their second appearance in an IPL season opener.
Interestingly, this is also the second time RCB and SRH will face each other in the opening match of an IPL season. The previous instance came in 2017, when SRH were defending champions and RCB were runners-up.
