All segments from SmackDown June 19 episode

Cody Rhodes (c) vs Gunther — Undisputed WWE Championship — Sami Zayn Referee — CHAOS

The commercial-free opening match and the most talked-about championship match of 2026.

Rhodes and Gunther delivered a physical contest worthy of the commercial-free billing. Gunther targeted Rhodes’ ribs with chops and a sleeper hold. Rhodes fought back with a Cody Cutter and set up the Cross Rhodes — but Gunther reversed into a sunset flip. Sami Zayn dropped to the mat and issued a blatantly fast count — slapping the mat three times before Rhodes could kick out. The bell rang. Rhodes won the match by pinfall — but the entire T-Mobile Center knew the count was wrong.

Gunther was furious. Nick Aldis appeared and demanded the match be restarted. The second fall began with Gunther immediately going after Rhodes with powerbombs. Zayn officiated normally for several minutes before Gunther locked in the Gojira Clutch. Rhodes’ hand dropped twice — on the third check, Zayn pulled Rhodes’ hand up himself. Gunther released the hold and confronted Zayn, getting in his face. Zayn snapped and hit Gunther with the Helluva Kick. Aldis immediately ruled the match a no contest.

Post-match at SmackDown Results June 19, Rhodes, Gunther, Aldis, Zayn, and road agents argued in Gorilla position. Rhodes stormed back to the ring and demanded a resolution. Backstage, Rhodes approached Aldis and suggested the only fair outcome: a Triple Threat match — Cody Rhodes vs Gunther vs Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions. Aldis agreed. The Night of Champions main event is now a Triple Threat — the most unpredictable championship match WWE has booked in years.

Wepa Up (R-Truth & Damian Priest) (c) def. MFTs — WWE Tag Team Championship Retained

Truth got worked over during the entire first commercial break before countering Tama with a jumping back kick and tagging in Priest. Priest cleaned house with a diving clothesline and set up for the finish. Talla tried to intervene but got clotheslined over the ropes. Solo Sikoa then appeared at ringside — MFT was furious at his presence. Priest ran in for a double axe-handle but accidentally hit Solo instead of Talla. In the confusion, the distracted Tama turned around into a roll-up from Truth for the pinfall. Wepa Up retains.

Post-match at SmackDown tonight June 19, Tama Tonga confronted Solo and told him to “keep Bloodline business separate from MFT” — the clearest sign yet that Solo is caught between two loyalties.

Ricky Saints def. Carmelo Hayes — US Championship #1 Contender For Night Of Champions

Saints gets his Night of Champions moment. The match was competitive throughout — Hayes connected with the First 48 for a near-fall. Saints fought back with a Northern Lights Suplex bridge and mounted a comeback. Saints secured the pinfall to earn the right to challenge Trick Williams for the United States Championship at Night of Champions on June 27. Hayes’ frustration continues — he’s been chasing the US title since SmackDown May 15 and has now lost the #1 contender spot to the man he’s been feuding with for weeks.

Jade Cargill Calls Out Tiffany Stratton — Night Of Champions Match Expected

Cargill appeared and called out Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton for a title match at Night of Champions. After being eliminated from the Queen of the Ring in the first round, Cargill is pivoting to the Women’s US Championship as her next target. Stratton’s alliance with Charlotte Flair and Chelsea Green makes this a multi-layered storyline heading into Riyadh.

Jacob Fatu Tells Solo Sikoa To Stay Out Of Jey’s Match

In a key Bloodline backstage segment, Fatu found Solo and told him to stay out of Jey Uso’s King of the Ring semi-final tonight. Fatu said he wasn’t there to recruit Solo back to the Bloodline — he just wanted Solo to “make the right choice.” The dynamic between Fatu (now wearing the Ula Fala given by Reigns on Raw June 15) and Solo (the former Bloodline leader now aligned with MFT) continues to evolve.

Blake Monroe Vignette — Calls Out Giulia

A pre-taped vignette aired with Blake Monroe calling out Giulia — setting up a new women’s feud on SmackDown. Monroe debuted on SmackDown May 22 in Lexington and this is her first storyline direction since arriving on the main roster.

Additional Backstage Segments

Charlotte Flair interview: Flair told Cathy Kelley she was going for her 15th World Championship and would prove to Liv Morgan why she is “The Then, Now and Forever.”

Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton: Stratton questioned Green’s motives for wanting to be friends. Stratton told Green she could handle her Night of Champions challengers on her own and walked away — the fragile alliance cracking further.

Danhausen confronted by Los Garza: Los Garza demanded to know why Danhausen hadn’t cursed the Knicks. Matt Cardona made the save before it turned physical.

R-Truth, Finn Bálor, and Damian Priest backstage: Truth and Bálor spoke before Priest appeared and told Truth: “Whatever celebrations you’ve got planned — don’t count me in.” The Wepa Up partnership shows signs of strain after retaining the tag titles earlier.

Queen Of The Ring Semi-Final: Liv Morgan def. Charlotte Flair — Morgan Faces IYO SKY At Night Of Champions

The Women’s World Champion advances to the Queen of the Ring final by destroying Charlotte Flair’s leg. Morgan targeted Flair’s injured knee from the opening bell — hitting a chop block, hanging Flair in the Tree of Woe and kicking the damaged leg repeatedly, and driving a dropkick into the knee against the ring post.

Flair fought through the pain and hit Natural Selection from the second rope for a near-fall that had the Kansas City crowd erupting. She attempted the Figure Four — but her own leg buckled under the pressure, and Morgan reached the ropes to force a break. Morgan hit Oblivion but couldn’t cover in time. She then locked in a single-leg crab, wrenching Flair’s destroyed knee. Flair had no choice — she tapped out.

The show closed with Morgan celebrating while backstage cameras caught her gloating past a limping Flair as Nick Aldis checked on The Queen’s condition. The Night of Champions Queen of the Ring final is now set: IYO SKY vs Liv Morgan — the redemption arc vs the champion who wants it all. If Morgan wins Queen of the Ring while holding the Women’s World Championship, she becomes the most dominant women’s champion in WWE history.

King Of The Ring Semi-Final: Je’Von Evans def. Jey Uso — Evans Faces Oba Femi At Night Of Champions

The Cinderella story continues. Je’Von Evans — the NXT call-up who only advanced in the first round because The Vision attacked Seth Rollins — has defeated Jey Uso to reach the King of the Ring final against Oba Femi at Night of Champions on June 27 in Riyadh.

Jey and Evans traded high-flying offence throughout, with the Kansas City crowd split between the veteran Uso and the young high-flyer. Jey hit the Uso Splash but Evans kicked out — the biggest near-fall of the tournament. Evans responded with a springboard cutter and followed up with a 630 Splash attempt that Jey rolled away from. In the closing moments, Evans caught Jey with a running enziguri and a top-rope crossbody for the pinfall.

The Night of Champions King of the Ring final is now set: Oba Femi vs Je’Von Evans — the most dominant force in the tournament against its most unlikely finalist. Femi destroyed Dominik Mysterio in 4:36 on Raw June 15. Evans needed The Vision’s interference and a Cinderella run to reach the final. The contrast is stark — and the Kansas City crowd gave Evans a standing ovation as he pointed to the King of the Ring crown.

Jey’s elimination leaves his direction open heading into SummerSlam. His fractured relationship with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline — combined with Solo Sikoa’s allegiance questions — suggests a Jey singles push is coming regardless of the tournament result.
